ALED Strip Controller

  • LED Hook: Strip on a Pico 2 or Pico 2W

Group File Info:

The ALED Strip light controller group file tells Hook of the Reaper (HOTR) color information that the light controller needs. The group file can be located anywhere, but preferable stored in the ‘lightCntlr’ directory. The group file is like the regular group file, but with no pin information and groups. As the first strip is group 0, the second strip is group 1, and so on. Since the groups are defined by the ALED strip, it is not needed in the group file.

1st Strip: Strip 0 - Game File Example: !0 0
2nd Strip: Strip 1 - Game File Example: !0 1
3rd Strip: Strip 2 - Game File Example: !0 2
4th Strip: Strip 3 - Game File Example: !0 3

Please note that Group and Strip are interchangeable in this group file, and threw out the LED Hook: Strip documentation. Also, the maximum number of RGB LED controllers entered into Hook of the Reaper is 9,999 per strip. It can go up to 65,535, but the maximum of 9,999 is plenty enough. Plus, it would take 300ms to write to all the RGB LED controllers, which people can see it, since it takes too long. Plus, a person would need a 5V 750A power supply, which is 3,750W and requires 2 Phase power outlet. Also, it would be around 200 feet long. One LED Hook: Strip device can control 4 strips. More strips can be added, to a maximum to 12, but not supported currently. This is a lot more, as ESP32 devices can only support 1 strip.

The group file contains only colors and color maps. The main item that will be entered into this group file is an 8bit RGB color. This is started with the “Color” followed by the name of the color. Then 3 numbers are followed after the name. The first number can be 0 to 255, and is for red. The second number can be 0 to 255, and is for green. Finally, the third number can be 0-255, and is for blue. This is all contained on one line. If you make it into multiple line, it will error out.

After the colors has been defined, than the color map(s) can be defined. A color map is a list of colors. So the color map has to be defined after the colors. To define a color map, 'Color_Map' has to be at the beginning of the line. Then it is followed by the color map's name, which can be used in the game/default file. After the name, at least 1 8bit RGB colors or more are listed out, which is different then the other group file, were 2 colors are needed. There can be 256 colors in a color map, so it can be 1 to 256 colors. Also, colors can be repeated in a color map. For example, green color can be used 2 times. Just like the colors, the color map is contained in one line, and cannot be multiple lines.

Below are examples of group files that could be used.
